Remote Control Car Drifting or RC Drifting as it is popularly known is a form of sport which has evolved very recently. With the development of technology and newer inventions in the toys industry, RC Drifting is fast becoming a popular pastime not only with children, but most surprisingly even with adults.
Remote control cars are a development of what was earlier known as radio controlled cars. These are toys, albeit with surprisingly advanced technical features and are almost fully maneuverable as their real life counterparts. Drifting is a technique by which such toy cars are directionally controlled and gives the user a feel of real motor sport. Often these toy cars can be drifted at very high speeds, up to hundred miles per hour and because of this reason, it has caught the fancy of many racing prone adults.
For beginners to RC Car drifting, there is the toy category. This has limited features and offer restricted maneuverability. Most of this range is readily available in toy stores. Major brands manufacturing RC drifting cars are Mattel of USA, Ninja of Japan etc. However, a full fledged drifting enthusiast may not be fully satisfied with this range.
For highly advanced drifting geeks, there are the hobby grade cars. This category has full functional features of a live sized car and can generate speeds which are comparative to a real car. All at the control of your fingertips, these vehicles give you a genuine adrenaline rush. The hobby grade RC drifting cars are extremely durable and in many cases, the manufacturers actually make them undergo high speed crash tests. Quality wise also, they are more advanced than the toy grade.
RC Drifting as a hobby has developed quite recently. Presently, there are three types of drifting cars available. They are Electric, Nitro and Trucks.

Electrically operated RC Drifters provide great look and feel experience. Convertible models have their hoods popping in and out and at very high speeds actually emit smoke from their tail pipes. Almost all the popular sports models like Mercedes, BMW, Volkswagon and Audi have their drifter variants available and are all operated electrically.
Nitro powered cars operate on a unique combination fuel made up of nitro methane, methanol and oil. These are much faster than the electrically powered drifters and do not need the hassles of frequent recharging. Capable of generating tremendous speeds, nitro is the most popular of all available RC drifters.
Trucks are a completely separate category of RC drifters and can come in either electric or nitro. Of all commonly available RC drifters, these have the most appealing look and feel and can provide maximum benefit to the drifting enthusiast.
