There are two types of remote control drift cars. One is the 2 wheel drive remote control (RC) drift and another is 4 wheel drive remote control (RC) drift. The 2 wheel drive and 4 wheel drive are commonly called as 2 WD and 4 WD. Now let us discuss the differences between them in order to determine the best car among the two types.
Basic learner difference:
The 2 WD cars are very ideal for the beginners because they come with instructions that can be followed easily. On the other hand, the 4 WD cars are easier to drive and handle. It can go over the obstacles easily and have good durability.

2 Wheel Drive Remote Control Car Drift

4 Wheel Drive Remote Control Car Drift
The main assumption which is made about the 2 WD and 4 WD is that they are driven at the same time. But it is not true. When there is a bend then there is difference in the axle which allows a speed differential to be developed between the wheels. This is different for 2 WD and 4 WD. The speed is more in 4 WD and it jumps over the obstacles.
The RC drift car is a mechanical device which follows the rules of physics thereby it also follows the rule: “energy takes the easy route”. If one wheel is running over a slippery surface, then energy will be sent to that wheel and other 3 wheels are away from traction. This results in losing the forward motion. This action is largely seen in the 2 WD.
Drive Mode:
When the 4 WD is on drive, the front and the rear axles will be locked, and then one wheel with the axle will be driven by the engine in an effective way. Now consider the same situation in a 2 WD. When a gentle brake is used, then there is a transfer of energy to the wheel with traction. Here the wheel is slowed down when it crosses an obstacle whereas a 4 WD can drive over the obstacle with high speed.
The shift on the fly:
This is a system which allows for the manual shifting from 2 WD to 4 WD without stopping. There is a limit on the speed required to engage the system. Mostly it is less than 60 mph.
AWD:
AWD is the all – wheel drive. The power is supplied to all wheels in a 4 WD whereas in a 2 WD the power is supplied to the rear wheels. The power delivery varies from one system to another.
2 WD is best for basic learners and 4 WD is best for experts.
